I was inspired by an Instagram post from an old friend. This is mostly an exercise in just throwing ink on the page...

September Strip #(1 thru) 14
So, with a few days to spare, the September Strip Project is complete! I did the production work yesterday and can show the full series now!
First, the flip book. It is best viewed on a big screen, and presents the strips in the way I would envision it being printed.
But for people reading on their phones, here's an easy was to scroll through all 16 pages (14 strips plus front and back matter).

September Strip #3
So a little commentary:
- The character this week is a wood creature with two-tone bark/skin. I am not sure how well that came across.
- I tried an experiment in the spot black - leaving a sort of aura around the thin black stems. I am not sure how successful that was.
- I don't know if it was the humidity of the fictional swamp or what, but the ink was a little more smeary than usual.

September Strips #1
First of all, thanks to everyone for the kind words and support of Selkie-Boy. It feels good to have a finished zine out there in the world.
SAWgust is over, and Inktober isn't till next month, so I have set my own project for September. I have had this never-used pad of 5" x 17" comic strip boards, ruled for 4" x 13" images, for like forever. I am going to to use it to do a series of three-panel strips involving characters based on figures from my D&D miniatures collection.I will choose a different mini for each strip and show them transferring an object through different environments. The narrative will be simplistic at best, but really the point is to practice sequencing, backgrounds, shading/hatching, and character consistency.
There are 14 boards in the pad so I won't necessarily be working as fast as SAWgust, and I will share finished strips here as I do them.
After completing the first strip, I am realizing how hard it is to get narrative int three panels... this will be a good exercise in conciseness.
As Selkie's little robot hamster toy used to say... here we go!
And here's the mini:
