Apropros

So, what with the recent news, I have made a commitment to using my downtime fulfillingly and productively, rather than just doomscrolling the twitters. As soon as I had withdrawn from the Torts III course, I cleared my second desk of law stuff and returned it to its original condition as a drawing space, and the first night I did not have a class, I sat down and made this sketch.

So, for the past couple of months I have been taking a community ed drawing class: ten two-hour Monday sessions. Mostly it was technique exercises, but it was good just to be putting pencil to paper regularly. Hanging out with other draw-ers was pretty fun, too, and the instructor was a hoot and a half. Anyway, here's a selection of some stuff that was interesting enough to post.

We spent some time on perspective drawing.

I was cleaning out my stuff and getting ready to recycle some papers when Coco saw some doodles I had made during a recent meeting and refused to let me throw them away. Here are the substantive pieces.

 

I guess I do like the crude energy in these, but I am not quite sure why Coco was so captivated with them.

I spent Monday at a teaching conference talking about teaching with teachers.

A palpable touch

Coco and I had dinner tonight with some friends and the conversation turned (as it often does) to tabletop roleplaying games. I doodled this on the paper tablecloth during the conversation.
